Our honored speaker for Atlanta KC meeting Wed MARCH 15, is Patti Strand, NAIA President
She will be updating us on the current National animal issues and legislation pending that is of concern to all responsible dog owners. Come learn what we can do as Georgia Dog Owners to protect our rights to show and breed dogs, in the face of the current anti dog climate in the media.
This special meeting is open to all dog owners so please share with all your friends and other clubs.
Patti is a recognized expert and consultant on contemporary animal issues, most notably responsible dog ownership and the animal rights movement. She often appears on radio and television and her articles on canine issues, animal welfare, public policy and animal rights have appeared in major US news publications and in trade, professional and scientific journals. Patti and her husband Rod co-authored The Hijacking of the Humane Movement: Animal Extremism in 1993, the first US book exposing the extremism of the animal rights movement. Patti has been a Dalmatian breeder and enthusiast since 1969, is an approved AKC judge and was a member of the AKC Board of Directors from 1995 through 2011. She holds a degree in political science from Portland State University.
With a degree BS in Political Science, Patti has worked as a volunteer lobbyist since 1991. In that role she:
· Researches and analyzes policy issues
· Drafts legislation
· Develops materials for print and broadcast campaigns
· Prepares talking points for media and legislative campaigns
· Appears in print and broadcast media regularly
· Rallies grassroots allies to participate in legislative and media campaigns
